Hello everyone, Let's get this bit over with then. You're reading this because you once signed up for Maus of Elliott of All The Rage newsletters, or someone else signed you up. Or, um, well, I signed you up personally, because I know you better than you know yourself. All that can change, though; you just need to let me know that I'm ruining your life and I'll go away. Once again, I am hyping this as the best ever issue of ATR. It's 27 pages long, for a start, which is exactly the same length as all the good bits in the Guardian. It's the length of 27 book worms laid end to end. It's the length of time in years since To The Manor Born first aired. Yay. Tis the length of kings. It's not just long, either, it's also good. The theme is "art" - just check out that cover, created by designmeister Sandy Noble. Vote now for my interview with Helena "How Do I Solve A Problem Like Maria" Blackman on page six (and delight in my efforts to avoid asking her the eponymous question.) Rejoice in Stefan "that cover" Schafer and James Wallis's brilliantly written pieces. Find out which clubs that would have ATR favourite Sylvia Bellini as a member. Enjoy the virtual gallery experience from the comfort of your own home (or workplace) with Tanya Ahsan, Camilla Stacey and others. Then there's TWO competitions, a photo of a teapot, and loads of other stuff - including an advert for my forthcoming book, How To Worry Friends and Inconvenience People (sorry). Particularly eagle-eyed readers might have noticed we've been diverting slightly from the "fashion and lifestyle" model of late. All I'll say about that is that, well, ATR is for "everyone else". You can get reviews of new films and exhibitions in any old magazine, but where else can you find slightly-out-of-date reviews? Hmm? Where else can you find this level of disinterest in what most people actually want from a consumer title? That's what makes ATR special. And that's the thing that keeps its readership firmly in single figures.
